Overview
If you are residing in UK under Tier 1 general category and you have scored the required points, you can bring your dependents along with you. You can apply for tier 1 Visa online if you reside in one of the listed countries. For other countries you need to send a hard copy of the application.
The dependents are:
- Children under 18 years of age
- Wife, fiancé , partner
- Civil partner, unmarried partner, same sex partner
If the dependents wish to extent their stay, they should apply on a separate dependent form. They should tell the category under which they had made the application.

To apply for tier 1 dependent you should:
- Have a valid passport
- Have a valid travel document
- A color photograph [ passport size as per specifications]
- Evidence of permission to be in your resident country [ can be a green card or resident permit]
- Travel history [previous passports]
- Proof of relationship with Tier 1 general Migrant
- Proof of Tier 1 stay in UK [ visa, photocopy of tier1 passport pages showing the permission]
- For child dependents proof of both the parents staying in UK
- Evidence of Maintenance, financial evidence.
- If the Tier 1 migrant is in UK for less than a year, he or she must show minimum £1,800 apart from the funds needed for maintenance
- If the Tier 1 migrant is in UK for more than 1 year he or she must show minimum £600 apart from the funds needed for maintenance
- Copy of bank statements and bank pass books
- For online applications electronic bank statements are needed

The UK Tier 1 Dependents Visa is for the people whose family members stay in UK under tier 1 visa. If your partner or close family member is staying in UK as permanent resident or under UK Tier 1 General Visa, you are eligible to apply for UK Tier 1 Dependents Visa. This is a point based visa.
