The UK Tier 2 work permits are for those people who wish to migrate to United Kingdom. UK Tier 2 work permits are for medium and highly skilled workers. To apply for a UK Tier 2 work permit one has to have an employment offer letter from a British company.

Types of Tier 2 Work Permits
There are four types of UK Tier 2 work permits
UK Tier 2 [General] -- is for persons outside United Kingdom who have been offered job
UK Tier 2 [Minister of religion] – is for person who have been offered employment within faith community
UK Tier 2 [Sportsman]—is for coaches and sports person who are internationally established
UK Tier 2 [Intra company transfer] – is for the employers of multinational companies who are being transferred. This type has 4 sub categories:
- Long term staff – transferred skilled and established employees for more than 12 months.
- Short term staff -- transferred skilled and established employees for less than 12 months.
- Graduate trainee – recent graduates, as part of structured graduate training programme
- Skills transfer – transfer of new graduates employees to UK branch of same organization
